A Message from Supervisor Jenaway
|
To my constituents,
First, my thanks to all of you for your support over the last four years. As I do in any job, and like any good leader, I have been reassessing my beliefs and vision for Upper Merion Township over the last 18 months. During that time, I found myself continually thinking of my early years and the influence of family, who were very active and progressive Democrats, working for the people to build a better community. Moving to Upper Merion over 30 years ago, it was clear that to become involved in the community, required being a registered Republican. In the 1980s I changed from my political affiliation to Republican to be able to serve my community.
|
 |
However, in working with the current Board of Supervisors and our State legislators, I found that my beliefs have remained the same, but the party that best reflects those beliefs has changed. My beliefs now are more along the lines of current Upper Merion Township leadership to keep taxes managed while growing a better community, for the people who live, work, worship and recreate here, now and in the future.
My detailed committee work, leadership activities and relationship building with the current Board of Supervisors have resulted in my action of returning to my political roots as a Democrat. I am pleased to take this action and join the Democratic Party, and look forward to continue serving Upper Merion as I have for three decades.
Sincerely
William F Jenaway
Supervisor

Erika Spott was re-elected UM Township Supervisor in decisive fashion, becoming the first Democrat to be re-elected in decades. Thad Radzanowski won his race for UMASD School Board in Region One along with Maura Buri in Region Three who was unopposed. They will be joined by Eric Elvanian who will represent Region Two. Elvanian will fill the seat being vacated by the retiring Dennis Morello, Esq. For the first time in modern history, The UMASD School Board will be a majority of Democrats.
History was also made in Bridgeport as the Democrats will be in control of Borough Council for the first time. Residents overwhelmingly elected Mark Barbee, Tony Heyl, and Sarah Bretz to their first terms. They will join incumbent JoAnn Gadzicki who is currently Council President.
The UM Democrats would like to thank the three candidates who did not come out on top this election. Vance Grosso and Russ Swisher who came up short in the races for Tax Collector and Auditor, respectively. Also, Alice Budno Hope fell just 19 votes shy of winning the At-Large School Board after nearly 5500 votes were cast.
Thank you to all who made these historic victories possible. We look forward to continuing our success in 2014 and beyond.
